The first piano duo to win the Avery Fisher Career Grant (2019), twins Christina and Michelle Naughton have been described by The Washington Post as “on a level with some of the greatest piano duos of our time…they have to be heard to be believed.” Captivating audiences with the unity created by their mystical communication, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, in Christina’s own words, “there are times I forget we are two people playing together.” The Naughtons have played with prestigious orchestras around the world including the Boston Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and St. Petersburg Philharmonic and performed at The Kennedy Center and with Lincoln Center’s Great Performers series. This recital features Mozart’s Sonata in D major K381 for four hands, Debussy’s Epigraph Antiques for four hands, Bernstein’s Overture from Candide for four hands, Rachmaninoff’s Suite No. 2, Op. 17 for two pianos, and works by American composers Tania Leon, Jennifer Higdon, and Ellen Zwilich for two pianos.
