Eunoia Theatre will present What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Shreck from October 24 through October 27 on the campus of James Madison University and at two downtown Harrisonburg businesses. Performance times vary by location. All performances are free and reservations are not required.
Heidi Schreck’s award-winning 2017 play, What the Constitution Means to Me, draws from Schreck’s own life as a teenager winning debate competitions to fund her college education. Through humor and heartfelt storytelling, she connects the lives of four generations of women to the Constitution, highlighting its significance in shaping their experiences. Both entertaining and thought-provoking, What the Constitution Means to Me explores themes of women’s rights, personal and family history, civic engagement, intergenerational dialogue, and hope and change.
This production is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. and with support from JMU’s Ethical Reasoning in Action, Madison Center for Civic Engagement, Department of Justice Studies, Department of Philosophy and Religion, JMU Libraries, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
