Event Details

“Washington did not really outfight the British, he simply outspied us.” That’s what London newspapers reported after the defeat of the British Army. So what was the intelligence that General Washington collected? Where did it come from? Who were his spies? And how do we know about these shadowy figures 250 years later?

Join Amanda A. Ohlke from the International Spy Museum for a discussion of spies from the members of the Culper Ring, made famous by the television series “Turn,” to James Lafayette, an enslaved African American who worked with the Marquis de Lafayette to outwit the British General Cornwallis.
