New Exhibition: Wild Things
December will feature a collaborative exhibition of three extraordinary oil painters: visiting artist Cynda Valle and local artists Agnieszka Elliott and Pat Augsburger. Though each comes from a very different background, together they explore the relationships within their work as lifelong women art-makers. Their exhibition, Wild Things, examines the many ways each artist perceives the world and re-imagines it through her own artistic lens.
Cynda Valle has painted daily for 30 years. She first emerged onto the Los Angeles art scene in 1980 and now resides in South Pasadena, working from her studio at the Los Angeles Brewery. She draws inspiration from the most ordinary domestic moments, infusing them with surreal undercurrents, luminosity, and pattern elements that move her and remind her of the fragile poignancy of life.
Agnieszka Elliott, born in Kraków, Poland, is a self-taught, award-winning artist known for her focus on exotic species. Her artistic journey began with a deep interest in drawing and observing the natural world. Her work centers on wildlife because she believes animals embody some of the most honest aspects of our world.
Pat Augsburger completed her undergraduate degree in Photography at James Madison University and earned a Master of Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute in Urban Studies, with a focus on fiber art and photography in public spaces. Her work explores expressionism and abstraction in both figurative and landscape forms.
